This project was created for YSU’s Haunted History Walking Tour, a campus event built around true ghost stories tied to university landmarks. I led the design of a 16-page booklet guests could read while walking the tour, along with posters displayed across campus to promote the event.
Approach
After receiving the brief, I began by learning more about the real ghost stories behind the tour. My supervisor shared a YSU library archive link, where I was able to search old newspapers and university records. Reading through articles from 20–30 years ago helped me understand the tone, context, and visuals connected to each location. The content itself guided most of the direction.
Approach
I designed the cover, page layouts, and styles in Illustrator, hand-drew a map for the back cover, and assembled everything in InDesign for print. Throughout the process, I focused on balancing readability with a playful, spooky theme that still felt accessible and easy to follow during the tour.
What I learnt
The final booklet was printed and distributed during the tour, and the
posters helped promote the event across campus. The project taught me a
lot about print production, accessibility, and designing within real
constraints while still keeping a strong theme.
250+ booklets printed and used during the event.
